In April NI-CO were commissioned by West Africa’s leading oil and gas construction and marine services Corporation, Nigerdock, to conduct a full and comprehensive assessment of the capability and preparedness of their fire team on Snake Island Integrated Free Zone in Nigeria. A team of three fire fighters from Northern Ireland arrived on Snake Island in May to develop, deliver and install a continued development program for the Fire Team to conduct fire fighting and rescue operations in a safe and effective manner.

As well as providing theoretical training to the Fire Department in clear communications, effective delegation and clear briefings, the NI-CO team delivered practical training in the management of crews in operational incidents, maintenance programmes, drill schedules and specialist rescues. A training and development programme was also produced in partnershipwith our Nigerian counterparts to allow Nigerdock Nigeria Plc personnel to conduct and maintain safe operations, practices and procedures.
