Over the past 2 decades, over 600 NI civil servants have travelled abroad to showcase the practical skills of Northern Ireland through NI-CO, the overseas marketing arm of the Northern Ireland Public Service. NI-CO is now inviting practitioners from all government departments and agencies to become part of that success story.

About NI-CO

Since its inception in 1992, NI-CO has been at the forefront of Northern Ireland’s international development effort having successfully delivered over 450 training and institutional capacity building projects across 66 countries worldwide. Charged with the commercial representation of the entire NI public sector network, the company has dedicated itself to securing major donor aid programmes across the globe, giving NI civil servants the opportunity to exchange examples of good practice with counterpart administrations.

With a diverse project portfolio, NI-CO offers a range of opportunities for NICS staff to get involved in this exciting and rewarding work:

·         Overseas consultancy – delivery of practical training and institutional capacity building for public sector institutions. The majority of projects delivered by NI-CO offer short, medium and long term positions.

·         Research opportunities – analysis of donor’s sectoral and geographical priorities and the needs of developing countries.

·         Project preparation and design – drafting Terms of Reference for technical assistance projects.

·         Proposal preparation – design of technical methodology – involving project scoping missions overseas and possible attendance at interview.

·         Project monitoring and evaluation – quality control of NI-CO’s project portfolio.

·         Hosting study visitors to the UK – offering mentoring and training support to delegations visiting the UK under the auspices of a NI-CO project.

As international support for Public Administration Reform and Good Governance increases, now is an excellent time for experienced NICS practitioners to showcase their skills and experience new cultures.
