NI-CO has notable experience of project work in areas with divided communities and various degrees of conflict e.g. Bosnia and the Middle East. Our experience of working in these communities stems from dealing successfully with issues in our own divided community in Northern Ireland. Throughout the 30 years of the recent troubles in Northern Ireland, the provision of social services has continued to function across the religious and cultural divide with minimal disruption. A number of imaginative initiatives have been sponsored by the Ministries for Social Development and Health, which have encouraged cross-community co-operation. These have been recognised internationally for their impact.
